Privacy Policy — خشتەی وشە (Khishtay Wsha)
Last updated: July 30, 2026
Khishtay Wsha ("the app") is a Central Kurdish (Sorani) crossword puzzle app. This policy explains what data the app handles and how third-party advertising works within it.
Information the app itself collects
Khishtay Wsha does not ask you to create an account and does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information (such as your name, email address, or contacts). We do not run our own servers that gather your data, and we do not run our own analytics. The only network activity comes from the third-party services described below (Google AdMob and the Expo update check).
Data stored on your device
The app saves your puzzle progress, completion history, and settings (such as your preferred accent color) locally on your device using standard iOS/Android app storage. This data:
- Stays on your device and is not sent to us
- Is not accessible to us
- Is deleted automatically if you uninstall the app
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app offers optional rewarded video ads: if you want an extra hint beyond the free allowance for a puzzle, you can choose to watch an ad. These ads are provided by Google AdMob, a Google advertising service.
To serve and measure these ads, the Google AdMob SDK may collect and process certain information from your device, which can include:
- A device advertising identifier (such as Apple's IDFA or the Google Advertising ID)
- Coarse device and app information (device type, operating-system version, app version, language/region)
- Ad-interaction data (whether an ad was shown, viewed, or completed) and approximate, IP-based location
This information is handled by Google in accordance with its own policies. You can review how Google uses data from apps that use its services here: Google Privacy & Terms — How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. AdMob's advertising practices are described at Google AdMob Help.
Tracking permission (iOS)
On iOS, before any tracking identifier is used for advertising, the app shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt asking for your permission. If you decline, ads are served in a non-personalized way where supported, and the app continues to work normally. You can change this choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Consent (EU/EEA and UK users)
Where required by law (for example under the GDPR), the app uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request your consent before personalized ads are shown. Your consent choice is stored and can be revisited.
Software updates
The app uses Expo's over-the-air update service to deliver bug fixes and small improvements. When the app launches it may contact Expo's servers to check for an update. This involves only standard technical request data (such as the app version and device type) — it does not include any personal information, and your puzzle progress and settings are never sent.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app includes third-party advertising, we recommend that parents supervise app use by children.
Your choices
- You are never required to watch an ad — the free hints and all puzzles remain available without them.
- On iOS you can deny or later revoke tracking permission (Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking).
- On Android you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Changes to this policy
If our data practices change, this policy will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
